Lillian Castro has over 25 years experience in the International Transportation Industry. Her experience started working for Maersk a major Steamship Line. She controlled 13 container yard depots throughout the Midwest. Within one year she was promoted to Intermodal Manager working directly with trucking companies, railroads and leasing companies negotiating service and rates. She further advanced her career as a Regional System Support Manager responsible for implementing and designing new systems for all processes within the organization. Lillian trained and implemented company procedures for Export Documentation, Import Documentation and Booking processes throughout all North America offices for Maersk Line. Attended several “Training the Trainer” courses to further enhance my ability to properly train personnel.
She worked as Regional Customer Service Manager responsible for eight Midwest offices overseeing the Export, Import and Booking processes. She also was a ‘hands on’ manager assisting her staff as needed in the day-to-day operation while meeting customer requirements. Working daily with freight forwarders, shippers and manufacturing companies in all facets from rates, bookings, documentation, customs and final deliveries.
Researched and investigated for idle equipment, containers and chassis that were missing or lost recovered several pieces of equipment in turn saved the company thousands of dollars.
She became very successful in assisting upper management in analyzing staff requirements for the migration of Maersk and Sealand for a centralized Customer Service Department. She hired and trained new staff to ensure company policies and procedures were followed. Assisted the finance department to verify intermodal invoices and process for payments to reduce outstanding statements.
Her well-rounded experience in the International Shipping Industry provides the knowledge of the supply chain processes to assist in hiring the right candidate for the right company.
Maureen Barker, Staffing Consultant
Maureen Barker started her career in International Transportation Industry working for a Major Steamship Line in their intermodal department. Within a short time she was promoted to the Sales Department; first as a inside sales coordinator, assisting the outside sales executives by working directly with customers in helping with resolving problems, and ensuring maintenance of customer relations. She was promoted to an Account Executive covering a four state territory to grow and maintain a customer base, manage customer interactions and information to ensure continuous and effective business relationships.
As Maureen advanced in her career she also wanted to grow in her knowledge and obtain experience in different facets of the industry. She moved on to work for another Major Steamship Line, managing their Equipment Control Department, co-coordinating and positioning equipment throughout the Line’s depots in the U.S. She also assisted the intermodal and operations departments, arranging for deliveries of import containers and setting up equipment for exports moving out of the country.
She was also responsible for coordinating and maintaining equipment needs of some of the company’s largest shippers. She assisted in the Sales Dept. in generating and maintaining business. Because of her sales and operations background she was very successful and was recognized for her ability to meet and exceed customers’ expectations in key areas including service quality, cost and efficiency inland customer relationships
